Meet Luke

Originally from upstate New York, Luke went into the Navy directly after high school. After serving his country, he attained his commercial pilot license and real estate license. In 2013, he moved to Florida permanently to start his family and become a successful real estate investor. Luther and his husband settled in Longwood more than five years ago with their three children.

Luther Dowe’s platform is a platform of service. It’s all about community service for veterans and their families, offering affordable healthcare for everyone, and creating advocacy groups for children, the elderly, and the disabled. He strongly believes there is no place in our government or among our elected officials for inequality, prejudice, or hate.

Commitment to Community Service

Main Street Revitalization Effort

He managed a group home for developmentally disabled adults and has worked on numerous community projects like helping to breathe new life into his hometown of Liberty, New York, as a committee member of the Main Street Revitalization Effort.

Revamped Historic Theatre

Luther’s ambition to help the community drove him to buy a historic theatre to preserve it’s rich heritage and give back to the community. He not only played films on the big screen but also conducted live performances and political debates.

A Safe Haven for the LGBTQ Community

Luke also owned the largest alternative nightclub in the state, right outside of New York City. He offered a safe place for the LGBTQ community of upstate New York to gather and feel welcome.

Voice for the Voiceless

Luke has served on several boards, including A Day to Be Gay Foundation and the Liberty Youth Center. He is currently active with the Seniors Intervention Group (SIG) and the Mental Health Intervention Group (MHIG).
